According to a recent survey by propertyfinder.com, church conversions were the most popular choice as a converted building. Churches are generally stone built with a wealth of original and characterful features. That's because the Victorians went to town in building the best they could and even tiny villages boast opulent churches. However as congregation levels fall, more and more churches are coming on the market. Some are developed into several smaller apartments whilst others are converted into a single home. They offer vast vaulted spaces, charm and an opportunity to own part of our cultural heritage. On the downside, you may end up with a graveyard as as garden. At least the neighbours will be quiet! |
